Sugarcane Cultivation Expert System Development In Yunnan

Sugarcane is one of the important economic crop in Yunnan province, but the sugarcane science and technology in Yunnan province lag behind as compared to other provinces because the most of sugarcane cultivation areas in Yunnan are located in the remote countryside and the minority areas. Low yield and low sugar content in sugarcane become very prominent in Yunnan sugarcane industry. Based on the environment conditions of Yunnan sugarcane cultivation regions, new sugarcane cultivars with higher yield and higher sugar content, newly developed cultivation techniques, and sugarcane diseases, insects and weeds prevention techniques, the Yunnan sugarcane cultivation expert system characterized with literatures, pictures and videos was developed, which integrated the consultation in sugarcane cultivation management and the recommendation in targeted yield cultivation scheme. The system utilized the agricultural expert tool developed by HeFei Intelligent Institute of China Academy Sciences combined with agricultural expert's idea and logic..According to the natural climate and cultivation conditions of the suarcane cultivation regions, the module of consultation in sugarcane cultivation management can provide the aim cultivation management scheme for the users, including the cultivation techniques (cultivation condition with irrigation and without irrigation), the management of different growth stages (seedling, tillering, elongation and maturing), and the diagnoses and control of disease & pests. Furthermore, sugarcane cultivation management timetable for whole growth period was also illustrated.According to the rule of sugarcane growth and the cultivation condition, the module of recommendation in targeted yield cultivation scheme can project the target yield and provide the corresponding cultivation scheme. By selecting the altitude, soil type, soil fertility, cultivation time in the cane region through the dialogue bwtween the computer and the user, the user can get the information of sugarcane cultivars and the corresponding higher yield cultivation techniques including cultivation time, quantity of seedling, row and rank space, fertilizer application and management requirement.During the development process of Yunnan sugarcane expert system, the localization of the system is achieved due to the close connection with the local cane growth condition. Furthermore, new sugarcane cultivars and new cultivation techniques through Yunnan and whole China were put into the system , the system will become a tool to popularize the new techniques and will contribute to the prosperity for the sugarcane industry in Yunnan province.
