The studies on agronomical and physiological characters during seedling stage, seedling resuscitation stage, later stage, the quality and economic characters after bake were conducted with the K326 in float system, which heeling-in in straw-made pots(T1), plastic trays(T2) and spraying paclobutrazol(T3) in five leaf stage in Hunan Agricultural University Tobacco Engineering Technique Center Trial Base and Key Laboratory of Crop Physiological & Molecular Biology in 2005. The results were as follows:1 The investigation of agronomical characters in seedling stage showed that the stem height, length and width of leaves were restrained evidently and the stem diameter were increased, the length of taproot were shortened prominently after heeling-in in straw-made pots and plastic trays, to some varying degree also shortened the length of initial lateral root and second lateral root, adventitious root, and simultaneously the numbers of root, the root fresh and dry weight were increased while the fresh and fry weight of stalk and leaves were lower than that of control; Spraying paclobutrazol, it is not only restrained the prolongation of stem and increased the stem diameter, but also the leaves development, the numbers and prolongation of lateral root were promoted; The root/shoot ratio was much higher than that of control.2 The determination of physiological characters in seedling stage showed that the root vigor of tobacco seedlings were up to significantly difference in comparison with control after heeling-in in straw-made pots, plastic trays and spraying paclobutrazol, which raised by 57.7 %, 54.8 % and 38.8 % respectively; the average root volume of single plant increased by 41.2 percentage, 32.6 percentage, and 52.2 percentage respectively in comparison with control; As to the root system total absorption area, T3...
