Managing forestry data is characterized by data-intensiveness, computing-intensiveness, distribution of resources, and heterogeneous information systems. As an innovative high performance computing environment and information services infrastructure, the Grid can meet geological survey application requirement by its dynamic, distributed resource sharing and collaboration. Based on Grid computing, Digital Forestry Platform (DFP) puts forward a technical system including information acquirement, processing to application is proposed. The research and development of DFP brings great changes to traditional data managing in forestry sector, realizes complementarity, cooperation and resource sharing among various application systems and optimizes the environment of recombinating forestry data resources. But there are a few key problems in process of recombinating the data resources: how to ensure the security about sharing environment of allied resources for various application systems, how to build good access control ways; and how to build unified resource management sites and user authentication rules. The researches on the above-mentioned issues have very important significance for the development and implementation of DFP. The author has built security control model of DFP data resource sharing environment and finally has realized a prototype system of access control and unified authentication system by his researches of Grid technology, information security technology and database technology for DFP The main contents of the research are given as following:(1) The basic character and supporting environment of DFP were analyzed. The supporting technologies of Grid security were summarized. The existed unified authentication system was analyzed in this paper, and their advantages and disadvantages were discussed respectively.(2) Based on the distributed peculiarities of DFP and guiding principles of the access control security of DFP, the access control model of DFP was established.
