Sanicula has 37 species of plants in the world, including 22 in the United States and 15 in China. Feijingcao is a Sanicula lamelligera dried whole plant. It is widely used in Sichuan Province and even in the southwestern of China for its effects on relieving cough and reducing sputum, promoting circulation of blood and stimulating the menstrual flow. So it can cure diseases such as cough for a cold, low back pain of women by the closure embolism and also influenza. However, its monomeric compound’s biological cell activity is relatively less studied. Former researchers have detached three compounds, that is, rosmarinic acid and glucopyranosyl diffraction, triterpenes and flavonoids, whereas the activity is not good.Using chicken embryo culture to study inhibitory efects of three parts(The Ethyl acetate ingredient and The n-Butyl alcohol ingredient and The H2O ingredient) in Sanicula lamelligera Hance on influenza virus A proliferation,and we found the Ethyl acetate ingredient and the n-Butyl alcohol ingredient have a relatively good resistance to vitro activity of H1N1 influenza virus.We systematically extract and identify the effective parts of Feijingca, for the purpose of searching for its anti-influenza virus’s activity and verifying its mechanism.35 compounds were isolated from Sanicula lamelligera Hance,20 of which are identified and included four new compounds, through using techniques of silica gel, RP (RP-18) gel, Sephadex LH-20(MeOH), MCI gel CHP 20P, semi-preparative HPLC and other ways of separation of material and separation, at the same time combining with modern spectroscopic analysis. The structure of the compounds involved in sesquiterpenes, flavonoids, benzene derivatives and steroid.20 compounds were isolated from this herb for the first time.Three biological activity included anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer (leukemia (HL-60), hepatoma (SMMC-7721), lung (A-549), breast cancer (MCF-7), colon cancer (SW480)) and anti-HIV antiviral activity have made for 14 sesquiterpene of these 20 compounds. It showed No.7 compound had better anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory activity and the remaining compounds had relatively weaker biological activity.
