Using Calligonum mongolicum Turcz.which are ultra-xeromoph shrub as materials, this paper analized the difference of Leaves physiological characteristics of Calligonum mongolicum Turcz. in different geographical provenance from the east to the west . Meanwhile, to simulate the solution drought stress condition with different concentrations PEG-6000, we studied the effects of drought-resistant of physiological characteristics in Calligonum mongolicum Turcz seedlings by using different geographical provenance in Gansu province. Main result were as follow:1.Along with the decreasing water gradient from east to west in Gansu. The physiological indexes of Calligonum mongolicum Turcz. in different geographical provenance studied showed that: The content of MDA was increased, the content of Pro and SS were decreased, the SOD activity was decreased, meanwhile the content of SP was increased ,whereas the POD activity first increased and then decreased.2. The result indicated that the content of Pro increased with the stress time prolong, the content of SS raised first ,declined then, and increased continually later, the content of MDA first increased and then decreased, the SOD activity presented"M"the change tendency, the POD activity first increased and then decreased. The seedlings of three geographical provenances generally presented a similar tendency under different concentrations and long-term PEG stress. However, the changes were significantly different ( P<0.05 ) . The increasing range of Pro content was Wuwei>Jiuquan >Zhangye, SS content was Jiuquan >Zhangye >Wuwei, MDA content was Wuwei> Zhangye > Jiuquan, SOD activity was Wuwei>Zhangye>Jiuquan, POD activity was Jiuquan>Wuwei>Zhangye. There existed differences of drought resistance mechanism of Calligonum mongolicum Turcz.,the adjustment of protection enzymes was an important physiological reaction to the environment adaptability.Correlation analyses shows that there was positive correlation between the content of Pro and the content of MDA,and the content of Pro was negative correlation with the SOD activity and POD activity. The content of SS was positive correlation with the content of MDA.The content of MDA was nagetive correlation with SOD activity ,and was positive correlation with POD activity. The SOD activity was negative correlation with the POD activity. The content of SP was positive correlation with the content of Pro,SS, MDA,and was nagetive correlation with the POD activity. The effect of every factor in three geographical provenance is different. it shows drought resstance mechanism of Calligonum mongolicum Turcz.is different.Principal component analysis: The information carried by drought-resistance index from shrubs of different geographical provenance is basically consistence each other. It was considered that the information in first principal components of Wuwei Calligonum mongolicum Turcz.were the SOD activity and the content of SS,SP. The second principal include the content of MDA,Pro. It was considered that the information in first principal components of Zhangye Calligonum mongolicum Turcz.were the content of MDA,Pro,SS. The second principal include the content of SP and the SOD activity. It was considered that the information in first principal components of Jiuquan Calligonum mongolicum Turcz.were the content of SS,SP,Pro. The second principal include the content of MDA and the SOD activity.Whereas the third principal was the POD activity of three different geographical provenance.By analyzing comprehensive appraisal of all physiological and biochemical indices, the results showed that the ability of drought resistance of three different geographical provenance were Wuwei>Jiuquan>Zhangye.
