Karyotype analysis was carried out on Chinese native chickens( Henan Game chickens, Gushi chickens and Dagu chickens) using the peripheral lymphocyte culture technique, G-bnaded patterns were obtained with trypsin and Giemsa. The results were as followed.1. Suitable conditions of peripheral lymphocyte culture ,G banded and AgNORs were found out on Henan Game chickens, Gushi chickens and Dagu chickens.2. The karyotypes of Henan Game chickens, Gushi chickes and Dagu chickens were similar with each other. All three species had a diploid number of 78. However, there was some differences in the type of No.1,No.2,No.4 and W chromosomes. In Henan Game chickens, they were m,sm,st and sm type, in Gushi chickens they were m,sm,sm and m type and in Dagu chickens they were sm,m,st and m type.3. Analysis of G-banding patterns for the former 10 pairs of chromosomes of the three breeds indicat that the G-banding patterns were quite different. The macrochromosome of the three breeds all can be devided into 27 zones, the Henan Game chickens included 152 bands, the Gushi chickens were included 138 bands while the Dagu chickens includeded159 bands. G bands of W chromosomes of the three breeds were same , meaned that the evolution of W chromosomes of Chinese native chickens very conservative .4.
