According to "Veterinary Pharmacopoeia of PRC." "Pharmacopoeia of PRC." "Dictionary of Chinese herb medicine" and a great deal of interralated references on Endometritis of Dairy Cattles, thirteen kinds of Chinese herbs usually used to treat endometritis of cows were chosen, which are Cortex Phellodendri, Rhizoma Coptidis, Radix Scutellariae, Radix Sophorae Flavesentis, Herba Leonuri, Flos Carthami, Fructu Cnidii, Folium Artemisiae Argyi, Andrographispa niculata (Burm.f.) Nees, Gentiana scabra, Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort, Radix angelicae sinensis, Saussurea lappa Clarke. Their extracting processes were optimized by orthogonal test, according the nature of effective components, thus select the best extracted scheme. Then their antibacterial activities were determined through antibiotic test in vitro.According to Chinese Medical Theory, seventeen compositions (three traditional compositions in it) were designed on the basis of the thirteen kinds of herbs that the above mentioned. Their activities against Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were determined through antibiotic test in vitro. And than eight compositions with better antibacterial activity were further sorted out, whose components and proportions are as follows:Composition 1: Radix Sophorae Flavesentis, Rhizoma Coptidis, Radix Scutellariae, CortexPhellodendri in the proportion of 12:5:8:82: Radix Sophorae Flavesentis, Rhizoma Coptidis, Radix Scutellariae, CortexPhellodendri in the proportion of 12:10:8:83: Radix angelicae sinensis, Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort, Herba Leonuri,Saussurea lappa Clarke in the proportion of 16:8:32:35: Cortex Phellodendri, Radix Sophorae Flavesentis, Gentiana scabra,...
