Research On Hybrid Seed Production In Maize

The final purpose of hybrid seed production in maize is to provide sufficient and high-quality hybrid seeds to meet the needs of maize production. Based on the several years' experience on hybrid seed production, this paper discussed about the detail techniques for guaranteeing seed quality and raising the output of hybrid seed production. Selection of seed hybrid production base, space isolation, standard of time isolation, methods of detaselling, determination of harvest period, ration of male and female parents and methods of planting were discussed in detail and these views has guidance functions for maize hybrid seed production, ensuring seed purity, raising output of seeds.
