The objectives of this study were to estimate the genetic diversity among 12 Chinese native bovine breeds in comparison to 3 foreign bovine breeds using 12 microsatellite DNA markers recommended by FAO and ISAG, and fluorescence-Multiply PCR based on ABI3100-Avant. The genetic hereozygosity, polymorphism information content(PIC),genetic distance among these bovine breeds were computed and these 15 bovine breeds were clustered. The results were as follows:1. The genetic variability of Chinese native bovine breeds was abundant obviously. The number(3-17) of alleles of Chinese native bovine breeds was much more than that of foreign ones(3-10) at 12 microsatellite DNA loci. There were 17 private alleles in 12 Chinese native bovine breeds while 2 private allele in foreign bovine breeds. The genetic variability of Chinese native breeds was higher than that of foreign breeds. The genetic variability of DQ were biggest.2. The genetic distances between Chinese native bovine breeds and foreign ones was very large. The genetic distances between the Chinese native bovine breeds such as JinJiang,GuangFeng,WeiNing,WuCHuan,NanDan and YunNanGaoFeng were very small(D_s<0.1). The genetic distance between DiQing,SanJiang and other Chinese native bovine breeds were large. The distance between Simental and German Yellow was small(D_s=0.0909).3. 15 bovine breeds were clustered to:WeiNing,NanDan,WuCHuan were in the first group,JinJiang,GuangFeng were in the second group,YunNanGaoFeng was in the third group,PingWu was in the fourth group,SanJiang,WanNan,DiQing were in the...
