Tapiscia sinensis Oliv. is the Staphyleaceae, the tapiscia, and there are few reports about the Staphyleaceae in the world. As an old tree species which is unqiue in China, there are fewer researches about the chemical constituents of Tapiscia sinensis Oliv.. So a further study is being valuable. In order to provide scientific basis for the development and utilization of Tapiscia sinensis Oliv., we study on the chemical constituents, the content of flavonoids in Tapiscia sinensis Oliv. seed coat .The result as followed:1. The seed coat of Tapiscia sinenisis Oliv.1.0Kg were extracted with ethanol and got the ethanol extract 172.35g after evaporating the solvent in low pressure, the extract rate is 17.24%. The ethanol extract was suspended in distilled water and was successively extracted with petroleum ether, ethyl acetate and n-butanol, after concentrating we got petroleum extract 10.88g, acetic ether extract 39.28g, n-butanol extract 86.31 and water residue 29.88g, respectively.2. Tapiscia sinenisis Oliv. had been pretested systematically by means of tube-test . The results showed that main constituents were flavanone, phenols, tannin, carbohydrate,volatile oil; saponin, steroids, terpenoid,amino acid, polypeptide, protein,lactone coumarin and anthraquinone were possible constituents; cardiac glycoside and alkaloid were excluded.3. It was studied on the technology of extracting total flavonoids by alcohol extracting and ultrasonic method.During the extracting process,four main factors including concentration of extracting solution,temperature,time and ratio of solid to liquid are studied by using single factor analysis method.The optimal process conditions are obtained by orthogonal analysis as follow:ethanol concentration 50%,ratio of solid to liquid 1:10,extracting duration 90 minutes and extracting temperature 50℃.4. The ingredients of Tapiscia sinenisis Oliv. have been separated with column chromatography and TLC. Three compounds were isolated. The structures of them were identified asβ-sitosterol , daucosterol and Rutin. They were firstly isolated from Tapiscia sinenisis Oliv.5. The ingredient of petroleum extract were analysed with GC-MS. 8 compounds were were identified.The content as follow: Myristic acid(C14:0) 0.191%, Palmitic Acid(C16:0) 10.859%, Palmitoleic acid(C16:1) 2.309%, Stearic acid(C18:0) 5.100%, Oleic acid(C18:1) 45.475%, Linoleic acid(C18:2) 33.835%, Linolenic acid(C18:3) 1.154%, Arachidic acid(C(20:0) 1.076%.
