We collected 26 semen samples from 19 raccoon dogs by Xiongdi in March 2006 andMarch 2007. The average volume was 0.29±0.17ml and 37±0.368×million spermatozoa, density was 99±0.83×million/ml, motility rate was 0.8±0.1, normal semen rate was 85±8.3%,lopsided semen rate was 16.41±2.20%. Compare to Professor Liu's work on semen quality offox in 2002, we found the volume, quantity and density were much lower than blue fox andsilver fox; but the vitality, normal semen rate and lopsided semen rate are similar. Incomparison with semen quality obtained by electro-ejaculation: the semen by Qingnian has aless volume, higher density, lopsided rate and motility rate.Surviving index: the semen (38 degrees Centigrade) in vivo surviving limit is 10hour and5.5 index, the average time and index is 4.67h and 2.7, respectively; the cryopreservation semensurviving limit is 22h and 9.6, the average time and index is 7h and 3.58. So the surviving timeis linear to surviving index under both cryo and normal temperature. Individual-Difference andSeason-difference are also found in the cryo-preservation and normal-preservation semensamples. In the late breeding seasons, the semen quality decreased in general.
