Japanese pine sawyer beetle (Monochamus alternatus Hope),is an important forestry pest, the larvae have damaged many kind of trees, but also the main vector of spread Pine wilt disease(Bursaphelenchus xylophilus Nickle),pine wilt disease was called "pine cancer" that can cause large pine trees died in a short time. the origin of Fall webworm(Hyphantria cunea Drury) is in North America. When 1979, it was imported to the Dandong city in Liaoning Province on China, then it began to damage gradually in the differet area of Chian,as an international quarantine pests, many kind of hosts, damage seriously, strong propagation characteristics, and often causing significant ecological and economic loss.Using radiation and chemical,we have explored the sterile technology for the control of Japanese pine sawyer beetle and Fall webworm. We have studed a variety of method to decide the optimal radiation dose and the optimal infertility pharmacy, and the bases Mechanism of infertility. The main results are the following:1. The Japanese pine sawyer beetle was irradiated with 60 Coγ-rays of 30Gy,35Gy and 40Gy, unity that treat with 40Gy, its fertility was reduced remarkably. When the non-irradiated females were coupled with the irradiated or non-irradiated males, the hatchability and the fertility of females coupled with all had little higher but lower than the control check. It explained that radiation has certain influence to the female gonad. It also has difference between the hatching rate and the amount of eggs in different match.2. The adults of Japanese pine sawyer beetle, that have been treated with the five chemosterilant , the results showed (that use Thiotepa diluting 25 times) were effective on sterility that lead to drop amount of spawned remarkable by spraying P.tabulaeformis, but to the life and mating competitiveness of adults is not remarkable affects. Through paraffin sections treatment for male testis showed it compared with the control was different.CBI,CSII,Camptothecin and Chlorbenzuron also have some effection on sterility.3. The irradiation-induced sterile effect for Fall webworm have been studied. After the pupa of Fall webworm were treated with 60Coγ-ray,the emerging rate of adult decreased with increasing of dosage, and the deformity rate and the dead pupa rate increased with increasing of dosage too. The emerging rate of adult was affected obviously when the pupae were irradiated in the different stages. When the matured pupae were irradiated in 7~8 days after pupating, the emerging rate of 76.00% was obtained. The sterile rate of eggs increased with increasing of dosage. According to the study on the physiology index of Fall webworm a with radiation, the suitable sub-sterile dosage was 400Gy.4. The lavae of Fall webworm, that have been treated with the four chemosterilant ,the results have showed that: 0.40% thiotepa can lead the amount of the spawn drop remarkably and it did not affect the larva pupation percentage, adult emergence percentage and the adult's life-span remarkably. 0.10% Chlorbenzuron and 0.10% CSII also had some effect on sterility.
