Understanding of the animal population genetic structure about the quantitative traits is an important step in the animal breeding. In the present study, the linear model was often used in the studying of animal quantitative trait. In order to study the nonlinear properties of the animal quantitative trait, the fractal theory of nonlinear theory was used to study the birth weight(BW),weaning weight(WW), weaning daily gain(WDG),18-month weight(18W),18-month staple length (18SL),18-month fleece weight(18FW),30-month fleece weight. The information dimension, correlation dimension,none-scale range and the scale range was calculated. And the significance of the fractal dimension in the researching of animal quantitative trait was analyzed. The purpose of this study is to provide the theory basis to the Liangshan semi-fine wool sheep breeding. The major results showed as follows:1.During the calculating of the fractal dimension, the correlation coefficient was large, the linear regressive relativity correlation was significantly,so the fractal dimension which was calculated by this way was availability and credibility.2.The results of the information dimension showed:the information dimension and the none-scale arrange of the different traits was different in the different years. The information dimension can reveal the complexity of the system, which can show how high the variation was.It can be used to estimate the breeding efficiency of the traits in the population. The meaning of the parameter in sheep breeding is the largest efficiency in trait improvement with a big information dimension,a big CV in a population,as BW(1999,2000,2002),WDG(2002,2003,2004,2005), 18FW(1999,2000,2001,2002),18W(2001,2002,2003,2004,2005), 30FW(2000,2001,2002,2004).A larger efficiency with a little information dimension a smaller CV in a population,as BW(1998,2001,2004),30FW(2003). A limited efficiency with a smaller information dimension,a big CV in the BW (1997,2000),WW(2002,2003,2004,2005),18FW(2004),18SL(2005), and a shallow efficiency with low levels in the same 2 aspects as BW(2003),18FW (2003,2005),18SL(2001,2002,2003,2004).3.The results of the information show:the correlation dimension and the none-scale range differ significantly between different years. The high correlation dimension means that the correlation in the population genetics structure was high. The order of the means of correlation dimensions of the traits is that:WW(0.93072)>30FW(0.912754)>WDG(0.901605)>18W(0.899562)>BW(0.869723)>18FW (0.745269)>18SL(0.715004).4.Both of the two dimensions can reveal the fractal properties of the population genetic structure through two different aspects. So the two dimensions can offer beneficial makeup for each other,it can offer a lot of information for the studying of the population genetics and variation.5.The spectrum of the traits was founded based on the information dimension and correlation dimension. The results show:the different trait has different fractal spectrum. The spectrum can reveal the difference of the population genetic structure variation.By comparing the spectrum of different traits, the fractal properties of the traits can be understand more deeply, and it is of great theoretical significance for the sheep breeding. The results of the studying shows:it can reveal the fractal properties of the quantitative trait genetic and variation of the Liangshan semi-fine wool sheep,it is useful for the studying of breeding of the sheep. And it also reveals the feasibility of using the fractal theory in the studying of population genetic structure of animal quantitative trait. It provides a new approach to study the quantitative genetics.
