Objective: To study the effect of reproductive mode, transplanting time, seedling quality, culture mode, flower thinning and harvesting time on yield and quality of Rddix Salviae Miltiorrhizae, improve and consummate the good agriculture practice (GAP) technique of Salviae Miltiorrhizae Bge., make GAP authentication to come true, elevate the yield and quality of medicinal materials.Method: The diversity of morphological character, yield and contents of tanshinoneⅡA, salvianolic acid, danshensu, cryptotanshinone were studied by the basic methods in pharmaceutical botany, medicinal plant cultivation, plant physiology and pharmacognosy.The root length, root diameters, root branches were measured. The contents of tanshinoneⅡA, salvianolic acid, danshensu, cryptotanshinone were determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).Results: By the way of seedling-raised propagation, the plant had less root branch, longer root, biggest root diameter, higher yield, higher contents of active components.The first ten days of April was the best transplanting time. During this period, the root length was the longest, the root diameter the biggest, the root branches the most, and the yield the highest. Total amount contents of four active were the highest in single plant. Seedling with diameter≤4mm, the bigger and higher grade seedling were, the higher yield and higher contents of tanshinoneⅡA and cryptotanshinone were, wihle Salvianolic acid B and tanshensu were low. So transplanting in spring should use higher grade seedlings. The plant cultivated by ridge culture had the higgest root fresh weight, rising danshensu content, while reducing tanshinoneⅡA ,Salvianolic acid B and cryptotanshionone contents. By this way the total amount of four active component was the highest, it was eligible cultivate mode. Flower thinning can promote root expanding and branching, which had the tendency of elevating root fresh weight and increasing the contents of Salvianolic acid B and danshensu. Although the contents of tanshinoneⅡA and cryptotanshinone were reduced, the total count of four active components and total count in single plant had been elevated obviously. Accroding to the yield and active component contents, it was suitable time to harvest Salva miltiorrhiza Bge . in the first ten days of October in main producing areas in Shandong, which could get highest active components content.Conclusions: Propagation way, transplanting time, seedling quality, cultivation way, flower thinning and harvesting time, which should be controlled in good agriculture practice, affect the yield and quality of danshen root. Seedling-raised is a suitable propagation way for Salva miltiorrhiza Bge., and the first ten days of April is the best transplanting time. Ridge culture is a better cultivation way, and the first ten days of October in main productive areas in Shandong is suitable for medicinal materials harvesting.
