The forest ecosystem is the most important land ecosystem, has the most formidable productive forces, and has essential and no replaced influential role in the nature. The forest ecosystem is the biggest producer in the land ecosystem, which provides the material for the humanity, many kinds of biology survivals, the life and production as well as resident environment. It has the huge influence to the humanity and each kind of ecosystem. The forest resources are essential material base in the national economic construction, production in the life and the environmental construction can not be replaced in the course of human society. However in the long term, in the forestry production and construction, there exists serious problem "stressing quantity, but neglecting quality", therefore, the overall forest resources quality assumes the declining trend. If continue like this condition, it will make our forest resources quality stay in the low level, and harm to the ecological environment improvement and forestry sustainable development. In view of many questions in our forest resources, it is necessary to build the forest quality evaluation standard and evaluation index system urgently. Then we can use forest resource to monitor and investigate the data, and value the forest quality timely. The situation of forest resources quality and the change tendency reflected by evaluation can provide the scientific basis for government and corporation in building the strategy of forest sustainable management and advancing the forest management level. The paper's data is from Mao er shan experiment farm forest in 2004. Analytic hierarchy process and Polygon composite index method are used to do the quantitative evaluation of forest quality respectively. The purpose of paper is to find the generalized quantitative method in region forest quality evaluation.Use analytic hierarchy process to classify the forest comprehensive quality into five levels: Perfect (8-10); Very good (6-8); Good (4-6); Common (2-4); Bad (0-2). The measure results indicate that: in the farm forest 7% of forest quality is classified to Perfect, 52.5% is Very good, 35.6% is Good, 3.4% is Common and 1.5% is Bad. Overall synthesis grading is 6.24. Therefore the forest quality in this region can be classified to Good.Use polygon composite index method to test each working region in the form forest separately. The polygon area which is encircled by various targets is the evaluation criteria, similarly is divided into five levels. The evaluation results show that there is no working regions belong to first level and the fifth level. Each working region quality is quite average, there are five regions classified to the second-level level, whose forest quality is quite good. Five third-level regions are good. However, overall synthesis grading belongs to the second- level region; classify this forest quality to very good.By two kinds of methods in the forest quality evaluation, we can see that: Analytic hierarchy process to test the situation though each small regional forest, stresses on the analysis on the analysis to each local forest quality condition. But the polygon composite index method tests overall situation of each synthesis working region, at last, the entire forest quality situation can be obtained, it stressed on the quality situation of some regions. Conclusions obtained from two methods are basically consistent. Therefore, we can draw that forest quality in the Mao er shan experiment farm forest is quite good. And we should take the protective measures to sustain this area forest quality, and improve it.
