With the development of Chinese economy, the waste of agricultural products is increasing. According to characteristic of waste of agricultural products in Urumqi , the spent mushroom compost and sauce residue were selected for main compound substrate material. This way can be to enhance the waste value, to resolve the waste environmental pollution and to provide utilization method for the nursery substrate product. In this report, the internationally best formula (turf : vermiculite = 2 : l ) was used for CK. Fierstly, the formula was selected from spent mushroom compost and sauce residue compound substrate by tomato and capsicum seedlings. Secondly, nursing experiments were done between different substrates of market and selected residue compound substrate by tomato and capsicum seedlings. Thirdly, the best formulas of spent mushroom compost and sauce residue compound substrate were furthermore selected out in different fertility levels. Finally, the economy feasibility was analysised between the selecting out compound substrate and different substrate of market. The results as follows:1. Through experimental analysis, spent mushroom compost and sauce residue compound substrate have good physical and chemical properties. The bulk density of compound substrate was in the suitable range of 0.1 ~ 0.8 g/cm3. The total porosity, aeration porosity and water retention porosity were all in the suitable range. The suitable range of nursery substrate's EC was 0.5 ~ 0.65 g/cm3. The spent mushroom compost and sauce residue compound substrate's EC is higher than it, but they also have good seedling effect.2. Basing on stem diameter, dry weight of underground part and healthy index, the good compound substrate formula for tomato and capsicum seedlings were selected out. The optimal formula of spent mushroom compost compound substrate for tomato seedlings: M1(spent mushroom compost: Vermiculite: Perlite =1:1:1), M6 spent mushroom compost: Vermiculite: Perlite = 2:1:2). The optimal formula of spent mushroom compost compound substrate for capsicum seedlings: M1′(spent mushroom compost: Vermiculite: Perlite = 1:1:1), M3′(spent mushroom compost: Vermiculite: Perlite = 3:1:1). The effects of spent mushroom compost compound substrate for tomato and capsicum seedlings were significantly better than CK. Comparing to CK, the tomato's stem diameter, dry weight of underground part and healthy index respectively increased 19.2~27.6%, 95.4~121%, 107~131%. The capsicum's stem diameter, dry weight of underground part and healthy index respectively increased 16.8~18.3%, 98.2~124%, 119~125%.3. The optimal formula of sauce residue compound substrate for tomato seedlings: J1(sauce residue: Vermiculite: Perlite = 1:1:1). Optimal formula for capsicum seedlings: J1′(Sauce residue: Vermiculite: Perlite = 1:1:1), J4′(Sauce residue: Vermiculite: Perlite = 2:2:1). The effects of sauce residue compound substrate for tomato and capsicum seedlings were better than CK. Comparing to CK, tomato's stem diameter, dry weight of underground part and healthy index respectively increased 17.5%, 36.2%, 39.6%. The capsicum's stem diameter, dry weight of underground part and healthy index respectively increased 11.2~10.8%, 51.5~60.8%, 58.5~59.2%. However, the effect of sauce residue compound substrate is lower than the spent mushroom compost compound substrate for tomato and capsicum seedlings. The sauce residue compound substrate had higher EC. The higher EC still needed to study.4. According to the different fertilize level of seedling test, the results showed that the nursery effect of spent mushroom compost compound substrate was significantly better than CK. They both were suitable to use as tomato and capsicum seedling substrate. The formula of tomato and capsicum seedlings were selected from C2 (spent mushroom compost: Vermiculite: Perlite = 2:1:2) and C1′(spent mushroom compost: Vermiculite: Perlite =1:1:1). Fertilize level 2 (Urea 250mg/kg and potassium dihydrogen phosphate 150mg/kg) can obtain better nursery effect.5. The cost of three kinds of spent mushroom compost compound substrate was lower than general commodity substrate. To some extent, they have exploitable value. Otherwsie, the cost of sauce residue compound substrates was higher than the commodity substrate. Therefore, the extension and application of sauce residue compound substrates will need to be studied.
