Sustainable Development Of Grassland Eco-Economy System In Xinjiang

Grassland resource is an important land resource and also a kind of renewable natural resources, which has very important ecological and economic functions and values. Xinjiang belongs to arid areas. So the ecological environment of Xinjiang is very fragile. Grassland plays an important role in the ecological environment protection and construction in Xinjiang. And Xinjiang is in the outlying districts. So grassland is also the foundation of animal husbandry development in Xinjiang ethnic minority region. At present, most of the natural grassland in Xinjiang has different degrees of degradation. Because of the grassland ecological environment destruction, the sustainable development of animal husbandry has also been seriously affected. So according to the serious eco-economic problems of the grassland in Xinjiang, this paper presented a literature review of the results of research related to the researchers. And the eco-economic problems of the grassland in Xinjiang were preliminarily analyzed and discussed from the point of view of grassland eco-economic system.The results show that: (1) the rate of grassland degradation in Xinjiang has increased from to 5.83% to 80% during 1980 to 2007, and the area of grassland degradation has increased from to 4,666,700 hectares to 45.8 million hectares. In less than 30 years, the area of grassland degradation in Xinjiang has increased by 10 times. The rate of degradation and the absolute amount of area of degradation was very large. Grassland degradation is very serious in Xinjiang; (2) growth of grassland animal husbandry in Xinjiang was analyzed by the use of Cobb-Douglas production function in macro-economic. Research indicates that grassland animal husbandry in Xinjiang has features of growth of the extensive grassland animal husbandry, and output of grassland animal husbandry in Xinjiang is highly dependent on the number of livestock population growth. But technological progress also plays an important role to growth of grassland animal husbandry in Xinjiang, and capital of grassland animal husbandry is also a source of growth for animal husbandry in Xinjiang; (3) it is necessary to make the traditional grass economic model to eco-economic model of the sustainable development. And the emphases are the grassland ecological industry,the implementation of coordination-tilt grassland eco-economic development strategies and a new path of urbanization in the pastoral areas.This study will play an important role in the policy recommendations which are protection and construction of grassland ecological environment, as well as the development of animal husbandry and other problems of grassland eco-economy system.
