Color-leafed plants employed in urban landscape abundant the landscape gardens, but restricted by climate in the region of the North, the variety employed shows deficient. For enriching Harbin's garden plant material, we lead three color-leafed trees into Harbin from Shenyang for the research of cold-resistance and the changes of pigment content under light stress, in the hope of to choose the Color-leafed trees that are suitable to Harbin and provide some reference for the designers under different environmental conditions in the application of color-leafed plants. The research objects of this thesis were introduced from Shenyang in the year's of 2006, that was Lonicera korkikowj,Comus sericea 'Flayiramea' and Physocarpus opulifolius 'Lutein' .The three color-leafed trees can survive in winter in Shenyang. The three color-leafed trees were treated in -25℃,-30℃,-35℃,-40℃for 3h,6h,9h. With the relative conductivity, the content of MDA, the activities of superoxide dismutase, the content of proline, the content of soluble sugar and the content of soluble protein as the cold- resistance physiology parament comparing with the growing recovery. The result showed that three color-leafed trees had some ability to adapt the low temperature of Harbin. The ability of cold resistance from high to low was Comus sericea > Physocarpus opulifolius > Lonicera korkikowj .They showed strong cold-resistance as Harbin's garden plant material. The result of physiology parament of the three color-leafed trees under light stress showed that: the shading treatments were effected unremarkably on the chlorophyll and remarkably on the anthocyanin for Lonicera korkikowj; the shading treatments were effected remarkably on the chlorophyll and anthocyanin for Comus sericea; the shading treatments were effected remarkably on the chlorophyll and anthocyanin for Physocarpus opulifolius We made a conclusion with the growth conditions and characteristics:the three color-leafed trees grew best under full sunshine, Lonicera korkikowj and Comus sericea grew normally under 85% shading treatment, while, a small number of Physocarpus opulifolius dead under a high degree of shade treatment.
