Studies On The Techniques Of The Plug Seedlings In Broccoli (Brassica Oleracea L.var.italica Planch)

Techniques of plug seedlings in Broccoli(Brassica oleraeea L.var.italica Planch) was studied.The main results are as follows.1.Effect of plug sizes on the growth and development of broccoli seedlingThe result indicates that the rate of seedling emergence and seedling emergence percentage of broccoli were not affected by plug sizes,but the increase of plug number per tray caused a negative effect on broccoli growth and development.The seedling quality in plug size 50 was the best,however, plug size 72 was good enough to reach the request of good quality seedling. Considering the economic cost,we suggested to use plug size 72.2.Effect of substrates on the growth and development of broccoli plug seedlingRate of seedling emergence was affected by substrate,while seedling emergence percentage was not affected.Substrate types has significant effect on seedlings.Sound substrate can be light substrate(peat:perlite:vermiculite =2:1:1),which can also be mixed with mushroom residues or vegetable soil at appropriate proportion.3.Effect of basal fertilizers on the growth and development of broccoli plug seedling Different basal fertilizers affected the rate of seedling emergence,seedling height,stem width,blade properties and young seedling quality,but no impact on seedling emergence percentage.Adding compound fertilizer or slow-release fertilizers as basal fertilizers was beneficial for seedling growth, and increased the biomass.So a balanced fertilization of N,P,K is essential to good quality of seedling.4.Effect of top dressings on the growth and development of broccoli plug seedlingHeight,stem width,blade properties and young seedling quality were significantly infuenced by different topdressings.When no fertilizer was added in light substrate,two or three times topdressing was required.
