Effects Of Plug Size, Water Supply And Plant Growth Regulator On The Growth Of Tomato (Lycopersicum Esculentum Mill.) Plug Seedlings

Aim at the stem overgrowth which often occurred in the potting seedlings , this experiment used tomato (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.) as material, studied the effect of different size of pot, different status of water supply and different plant growth regulator on growth characteristics, root vigor , photosynthetic pigment content , soluble sugar and soluble protein of tomato seedlings, and discussed the relation among it and Vigorous seedlings. The studies provide further theoretical bases and technological guide for improvement of quality of the potting seedlings and popularization of potting seedlings. The main results were as follows:1. The tomato seedlings growth had difference towards the different size of pot, the larger pot volume, the higher the seedlings growth indexes such as shoot height, stem diameter, fresh weight ,dry weight and so on, the shoot height show significant difference in square taper pot50 , round taper pot60 and 74,but stem diameter not, the highest vigorous index is 0.065,in square taper pot50, the lowest vigorous index is 0.025, in round taper pot128; The larger pot volume, the higher the physiological indexes such as seedlings root vigor, leaves Chla, Chlb and chl(a+b), Car of square taper pot50 is highest, round taper pot74 is lowest; the highest soluble protein is 20.256mg/g.FW, in round taper pot60, the lowest soluble protein is 17.397 mg/g.FW,in round taper pot74; The larger pot volume, the less leaves soluble sugar. It was proven that square taper pot50, round taper pot60 are suitable for cultivating vigorous tomato potting seedlings.2. when the pots volume are same, round taper potting seedlings shoot height, shoot and total dry weight are all higher than square taper potting seedlings, however, square taper potting seedlings show better than round taper potting seedlings in aspects of root fresh and dry weight, stem diameter, vigorous indexes, root vigor, root absorption area, total absorption area, photosynthetic pigment content , soluble sugar and soluble protein.3. With water supply increase, the seedlings leaves number ,shoot height, stem diameter, shoot and total fresh and dry weight, root active absorption area and total absorption are remarkably increase.
