Objective To study the expressions of CD44V6 ,P16 proteins in human non-small cell lung cancer and their relationships with thebiological behavior. Method A immunohistochemical method Picture?was used to detect CD44V6. P16 proteins expressions in 44 lung cancer. 10 normal bronchial mucosas and 8 innocent diseases.SPSS8.0 statistics software was applied to analyze the data. Result (1) Expression of CD44V6 was negative in normal bronchial mucosa and in innocent disease, 68.18%(30/44) in non-small cell lung cancer: 70.00%(14/20) in squamous cell carcinoma (Sccs),68.75%(ll/16) in adenocarcinomas (Acs). 62.50%(5/8) in bronchioloalveolar carcinoma (BAG) . There was no significant difference among the three groups.(P >0.05) The expression of P16 was 90.00%(9/10) in normal bronchial epithelial cell. 100.00%(8/8) in innocent disease, 54.54%(24/44) in non small cell lung cancer. The significant relationship was observed between in normal bronchial epithelial cell and lung cancer, in innocent disease and lung cancer.(P<0.05) There were significant differences in the groups of clinical stage for CD44V6 expression, The expression of PI 6 is associated with clinical stage, but the difference has not significance. The incidences of CD44V6 and P16 in patients with lymphaden metastasis were significantly difference than thatwithout lymphaden metastasis.(P<0.05) Conclusion CD44V6 andP16 were two independent factors involved in regulating in carcino-genesis. The level of CD44V6 and PI 6 may be a sensitive predictor of metastasis and prognosis in NSCLC.
