Objective To study the therapeutic effect of intra-tumor injection of Octreotide & recombinant growth hormone(rhGH) on implanted hepatoma in rats. Methods Forty rats were divided into 4 groups . Different drugs were injected into their implanted hepatoma ( 0.2ml saline as control, 0.02mg Octreotide, 0.3IU rhGH, 0.2ml ethanol ). After 3 days and after 8 days, we detected the hepatoma volume ( HV ), the serum level of albnmuK alanine aminoreansferase( ALT ), aspartate aminotransferase ( AST ) and the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen ( PCNA ) in hepatoma. Results The HVs in Octreotide group ,rhGH group and ethanol group were smaller than in saline group ( P<0. 05 ), the level of albnmin in rhGH group was higher than in others ( P<0.05 ), the levels of ALT and AST in Octreotide group & rhGH group were lower than in ethanol group( P<0.05 ) , the PCNA labeling index ( PCNA LI ) in Octreotide group was lower than others ( PO.05 ).Conclusion The therapeutic effect of intra-tumor injection of Octreotide & rhGH on implanted hepatoma is obvious, but it is not more efficient than ethanol. The toxicity of Octreotide & rhGH on liver function is markedly lower than ethanol.
