Efficacy of Intra-Tumor Injection of Kang-Lai-Te in Treating Transplanted Hepatoma in RatsDept. of General Surgery, Qingdao University Medical CollegePostgraduate: Zhao Zonggang Tutor: Wu Liqun , ProfessorAbstractTo study the therapeutic effect of intra-tumor injection of Kang-Lai-Te ( KLT ) on transplanted hepatoma in rats, 40 rats were divided into 4 groups ( G1,G2,G3 and G4, 10 rats in each group ). Different drugs were injected into their implanted hepatoma (G1 with 0.2ml saline as control, G2 with 10mg KLT, G3 with 20mg KLT, G4 with 0.2ml ethanol ). After 3 days and after 8 days, we detected the hepatoma volume ( HV ), the serum level of albumin, alanine aminotransferase ( ALT ),aspartate aminotransferase ( AST ),alkaline phosphatase ( ALP ) and creatinine, the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen ( PCNA ) in hepatoma. The results had been abtained. After 3 days, the HVs in G3 and G4 were smaller than in G1 ( P<0.05 ), the level of albumin in G2 and G3 was higher than in G1 and G4 ( P<0.05), the levels of ALT and AST in G2 and G3 were lower than in G4 ( P<0.05 ) , the level of ALP in G2 and G3 was lower than in G1and G4 ( P<0.05 ) , the PCNA labeling index ( PCNA LI ) in G2 and G3 was lower than in G1 and G4 ( P<0.05). After 8 days, the HVs in G2, G3 and G4 were smaller than in G1 ( P<0.05), the difference of HVs among G2, G3 and G4 was not significant, the level ofalbumin in G2 and G3 was higher than in G4 ( P<0.05), the level of ALP in G1, G2 and G3 was lower than in G4 ( P<0.05), the PCNA labeling index ( PCNA LI ) in G3 was lower than in G1 and G4 ( P<0.05 ). In the conclusion, the therapeutic effect of intra-tumor injection of KLT on implanted hepatoma is obvious, but it is not more efficient than ethanal. The toxicity of KLT on liver function is markedly lower than ethanal.
