The Physalis L. of about 120 species ,there are 7 species in our country. In this paper,the two species-P. alkekengi L.var. francheti (Mast.) Makino and P. pubescens L.-were systemically studied. The investigation of morphology resource and habitat of the two species plants growing were reported.The science name and herb history proof of P. alkekengi L.var. francheti (Mast.) Makino were studied. By means of pharmacodynamic study, the root, stem, leaf, flower, fruit, seed etc 10 parts morphological character of histology were examined and described.The root, stem, leaf, seed, etc 8 parts character of powder were studied.At the first time, the shape of pollen grain and karyotype analysis of chromosome of the two species were studied. Chromosome number, morphological character show clear.Based on the studies about plant chemistry of "jindenglong", five crystals were isolated from the CH3COOC2H5 parts. One structure of five compounds was identified on the basis of spectr--oscopic analysis. The UV Spectrum of the compound and IR, ESI-MS, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, DEPT , 1H-1H COSY, HMQC HMBC were studied. By the methods of TLC and HPLC, the "jindenglong" and "denglongcao" were identified.
