| Ginsenoside G, which contains 20(S)- ginsenoside Rg3 over 80%, is an active compound prepared from total ginsenosides in the leaves and stems of panax quinquefalium by alkaline degradation .20(S)-ginsenoside -Rg3 was separated as standard for the quality control. The fingerprint of ginsenoside G and the freeze-dry powder has been created by HPLC method. UV spectrophotometry method was used for the determination of the total saponin. The content of 20(S)- ginsenoside -Rg3 in both ginsenoside G and the freeze-dry powder was determined by HPLC. Residual solvents in ginsenoside G has been analyzed by head space GC.
