Objective: To discuss the imaging diagnosis and therapeutic effect ofmicrosurgical treatment in the pineal region tumors.Methods: 6 patients with pineal region tumors in our hospital from1997 to 2003 were analyzed retrospectively.Results: 5 cases underwent surgery, there were Krause approach in 2cases and Poppen approach in 3 cases. Operation procedures consisted oftotal resection in 3 cases, subtotal resection in 2 cases. 1 cases had beengiven ventriclo—peritoneal shunt and radiotherapy.Conclusion: CT and MRI image is important for the diagnosis of pinealregion tumors. Microsurgical removal is effective for most of the pinealregion tumors. The authors emphasized the advantages of Poppen andKrause approach.
