Objective To investigate Survivin, VEGF.P73 expression in different grades of astrocytoma, and to analyze its correlation with malignancy of astrocytoma and the relationship among them, and to study the possible cause of astrocytoma in aspects of occuring and developing by Survivin, VEGF and P73.Methods A total of 65 samples of astrocytoma and normal brain tissuses were assessed by immunohistochemical methods. Results Survivin,. VEGF, P73 abnormal expression were found in astrocytoma cells. The expression of Survivin, VEGF, P73 increased in a grade-depent manner. The differences of expression between grade III and I - II are satistically significant.( P<0.05, P<0.05,P<0.05 ). The differences of expression between grade grade IV and grade I - II are satistically significant P<0.05, P<0.01,P<0.01 ). Survivin expression in astrocytoma is significantly positively correlated with the expression of VEGF ( r_s=0.943, P<0.05 ) . The P73 expression between Survivin and VEGF protein are disrelated. (r_s =0.771, P>0.05, r_s =0.829, P>0.05). Conclusion 1.Survivin ,VEGF and P73 are abnormally expressed in astrocytoma and its expression is correlated with malignancy of astrocytoma. They probably play important role in development of astrocytoma. This study may provides possible theoretical evidence of immunological mechanism in astrocytoma.
