This thesis expounds systematically the traditional Chinese and modern medicine data concerning diabetic peripheral nerves' disease from ancient times to modern era. We made the peripheral nerves' damage model of diabetic rats by STZ with high-energy food. This scientific experiment use many advanced media and methods such as-optical microscope, electronic microscope, biological chemistry, radio-immunology and so on. I study the therapy mechanism of the prescription named huangqiguizhiwuwujiawei on diabetic peripheral nerves' disease from different dimensions involved cells and molecules. The experimental results are listed: (1) The peripheral nerves' damage model of diabetic rats has been made successfully. (2) This prescription has some degree effects in decreasing glucose and fat in blood, reducing glycated end products and inhibiting insulin resistance. (3) This prescription can advance the peripheral nerves' conduction velocity of diabetic rats. (4) This prescription can resist pathological changes of diabetic peripheral nerve tissues. (5) This prescription regulate the function of nerves' vessels and peripheral nerves by decreasing endothelia and increasing nitrous oxide in serum of diabetic rats. These results provide not only evidences for the prevention and therapy of diabetic peripheral nerves' disease with traditional Chinese medicine, but also demonstrate progressively that metabolic disorder and micro vascular resistance are both the causes resulting in this disease. So we should consider to inhibit metabolic disorder and to regulate nerves' micro vessels function in therapy.
