Objective To explore the expression of VDR in breast cancer and its correlation with patient's age, tumour size, lymph node metastasea, or differentiation . VDR immunoreactivity was compared with the staining pattern of the estrogen receptors (ER), progesterone receptors (PR). c-erbB-2 and survivin. Methods Streptavidin-biotin peroxidase(S-P) method of immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expressions of VDR, ER. PR. c-erbB-2 and Survivin in 1 5 hyperplasia tissues of breast lobule, 15 simplex hyperplasia tissues of breast duct,15 dysplasia of adjacent normal breast tissue and 56 breast cancer tissues. Result The positivity rates of VDR expression in hyperplasia tissues of breast lobule, simplex hyperplasia tissues of breast duct, dysplasia of adjacent normal breast tissue were 93.3%( 14/15), 86.7% ( 13/15), 80% ( 12/15) respectively. In contrast, the positivity rates of VDR expression in breast cancer was 75% (42/56)° VDR expression was located in nucleus, No statistically significant correlations were found comparing VDR expression in breast cancer with in normal breast tissue. No statistically significant correlations were found comparing VDR expression with histopathological data (tumor stage, lymph node, status, grading, histologiral tumor type). The positivity rates of ER, PR> c-erbB-2 and survivin in 56 cases...
