Objective This study was to explore the changing of collagen type â…¢ in kidneys of experimental rabbits with obstructive nephropathy and to evaluate the role of Scand Pâ…¢NP in serum of the rabbits. So we want to find some markers to predict renal function of hydronephrosis early.Methods 1.40 male New Zealand White rabbits were separated to four group: the group of unilateral ureteral complete obstruction, unilateral ureteral partial obstruction, sham-operated animals and comparative group. Each group had 10 animals.2.The serum of each rabbit was reserved from 1st to 8th week after operation. PCâ…¢ and Pâ…¢NP were measured by radioimmunoassay.3.The kidneys of all rabbits were stained by HE and immunohistochemistry that could indicate the expression of type â…¢ collagen.Result 1.PCâ…¢ in serum increased after operation. After 2 weeks PCâ…¢ in the group of unilateral ureteral complete obstruction got the peak and in 4 weeks of unilateral ureteral partial obstruction group. Pâ…¢NP in the group of unilateral ureteral complete obstruction got the peak in 4 weeks and in 6 weeks of unilateral ureteral partial obstruction group, then decreased. 2.Interstitial fibrosis was observed in kidneys of rabbits of group of unilateral ureteral complete obstruction, unilateral ureteral partial obstruction. 3.PCâ…¢and Pâ…¢NP in serum were correlated with tubuloinerstialfibrosis ratio.Conclusion Scand PIIINP in serum is correlative with renalinterstitial fibrosis in hydronephrosis. Collagen type III is the most important ECM in renal interstitial fibrosis. PCIII and PIIINP in serum can be used to indicate interstitial fibrosis in hydronephrosis.
