Clinical Study On Acupoint Magnet Plastening Therapy For Treatment Of Simple Obesity

Objective: To study clinical mechanisms of acupoint magnet plastering therapy for treatment of simple obesity and to explore the possibility for using acupoint magnet plastering therapy instead of acupuncture to treat simple obesity. Method: Sixty cases of simple obesity were randomly divided into an acupoint magnet plastering therapy group and an acupuncture group. 30 cases in each group, and acupoints were selected based on differentiation of symptoms and signs. Before and after treatment, relative physical indexes of simple obesity were determined; changes of serum leptin, NPY were assessed by radioimmunoassay; blood lipids and blood glucose were investigated by biochemistry assay. Their therapeutic effects were compared after treatment. Results: After treatment, the total effective rate were 70% in acupuncture group and 63.33% in acupoint magnet plastering therapy group, through compare the total effective rate of the two groups we found P>0.05 and power<0.75. we compared the discrepancy of each group' physical indexes before and after treatment(P>0.05), three of them (BMI, circumference of abdomen, fat under scapula)power>0.75,the others, power<0.75; except Waist-hip Ratio (WHR) of acupuncture group was not changed(P>0.05), every other relative physical indexes of simple obesity and Leptin, CHOL, GLU in two groups decreased(P<0.01); TG, LDL-C, HDL-C, NPY didn't changed(P>0.05). Conclusion: acupointmagnet plastering therapy and acupuncture all have exact therapeutic effect on reducing weight. To effect metabolism of lipids, glucose and relieve leptin resistance are two mechanisms of treatment for simple obesity. But because the number of the patient is not enough, The virtue of examine is lower, We can not think the acupoint magnet plaster is a certain method replace the acupuncture on reducing weight by this experiment. We need further research through increase the number of the patient.
