Objective The objective of the study is to evaluate the nutritional status in carcinoma patients during perichemotheraputic period by using the Mini Nutritional Assessment(MNA), and to investigate malnutritional status of carcinoma patients. In order to interpret the importance of evaluating the carcinoma patients' nutritional status and giving them nutrition support at earlier period. And to provide the new idea about diagnosis of clinical malnutrition. Methods The patient's MNA score, body assay, laboratory examination were conducted in 200 cases of the admission cancer patients. Among them,54 cases repeated the content in post-chemotherapeutic. The patients, nutritional status was judged by MNA score in following three categories: malnutrition(MNA score <17), at risk of malnutrition(MNA. score 17~23.5),and adequate nutritional status(MNA score≥24). Results In all the patients, the incidence of patients with malnutrition according to MNA score was29.5%,Risk of malnutrition was 31.5%,Adequate nutritional status was 39%, respectively. There were significant differences with BML MAMC. TSF, PA, TRF HB, ALB among the three groups judged by MNA(p<0.05). MNA score significantly correlated with BMI(body mass index), serum Alb concentrations, serum PA concentrations, (r=0.451~0.655,p=0.000). The prevalence of malnutrition in patients with post-chemotherapeutic was higher than that fore-chemotherapeutic. Conclusion The prevalence ofmalnutrition in carcinoma patients was high. It is necessary to evaluate the nutritional status of patients with cancer regularly, and give them nutrition support in time whom be found malnutrition and risk of malnutrition. MNA was rather in accordance with laboratory examination in nutritional status assessment. It was fit for carcinoma patients.
