Objective: Epilepsy is a transient disturbance of cerebral function caused by an abnormal neuronal Discharge. It is a common disease in nervous system. Many epileptic sufferers have epileptic seizures, accompanied with a deficiency of learning and memory, thus Epilepsy has become an important reason of affecting the life quality of epileptic sufferers. There are thirty to forty percent of them have a disorder of cognize function according to literates. The brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) has a positive effect to generation and survival of many varieties of nerve cells. It can resist harmful stimulation, accelerate the regeneration of the damaged nerve cells and regulate the plasticity of nerve cells and synapse. Recently, animal experiments have shown that BDNF is concerned with the processes of learning and memory directly, and that it has a positive effect on the disorder of congtive function induced by many diseases such as Alzheimer ' sdisease (AD) and vascular dementia (VD). But the research about the relation of BDNF to cognition deficient rats kindled by Pentylenetetrazole has not been reported heretofore. Our study is based on two animal patterns of status epilepticus (SE) and chronic epilepsy...
