The Influence Of Acupuncture On Nestin Expression In Cerebral Cortex In Neonatal SD Rat After Hypoxia-ischemic Injury

Background Hypoxia-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is the fetal or neonatal brain injury which result from hypoxia or cerebral blood shortage during perinatal period, it is one of the most severe diseases in the neonate. Many of the HIE sufferers would lost their lifes and the survivals would be confronted with severe neural disfunction such as amentia, epilepsy and cerebral palsy .HIE characterized by the mass degeneration and death of the neural cells in the brain after hypoxia-ischemic insult. In the previous, acupuncture had been proved to be effective in the treatment of brain ischemica. According to the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, we adopted the principle of "supply earlier heaven essence, regulate root of later heaven, restore brain marrow, strengthen bone, resolve tetany" to perform acupuncture on points of Controlling Vessel and Governing Vessel to cure 26 cases HIE in the clinical experiment, the result revealed that many of the children got recovery, furthermore, CT and MRI scan show that the patients' hypogenetic cortex attained restoration and external hydrocephalus disappeared after accepting acupuncture-therapy, which strongly support that the amelioration of clinical representation may attribute to remarkable neural stem cell proliferation in the damaged tissue after acupuncture performance. Previous studies reveal that acupuncture can cure brain ischemica through many ways such as eliminating free radicals, correcting the calcium dyshomeostasis, rectifying the turbulence monoaminergic neurotransmitter, restraining the release of excitatory amino acid and regulating the content of NO as well as the activity of NOS. Its multiple target effect can cut down the infarcted proportion of brain and can also prevent the neuronal degeneration , neuron apoptosis and even necrosis after Hypoxia-ischemica happened. If the influence of acupuncture on neural stem cell can be defined ,we can get the new mechanism for acupuncture-therapy on HIE and even other diseases, and the research of endogenous neural stem cell can be done through acupuncture intervene.
