Pharmaceutical Research Of Jiangtang Yishen Preparation

Fructus Arctii had been reported to have the effect of reducing blood glucose and attenuating diabetic nephropathy. Furthermore, our previous study had found that the major pharmacological active component was total lignins mainly including arctiin and arctigenin. The aim of this study was to develop the preparation of the active component of Fructus Arctii.Firstly, the active extract of Fructus Arctii (content of total lignins was > 80 %) was prepared and the method for quality control was established. The determination of total lignins was achieved at 280 nm by UV. The determinations of arctiin and arctigenin were achieved by HPLC with aqueous eluent containing methanol-water (10:11) and eluent containing methanol-acetonitrile-water (20:20:60), respectively.
