Purposes To investigate the expression and distribution of nuclear transcription factor -κB p65 (NF-κBp65), TNF-receptor- associated factor 2 (TRAF2) in oral lichen planus ( OLP) , and evaluate the relationship of NF-κB p65, TRAF2 between the events of cell apoptosis in formation and progression of OLP. And to examine the expression and distribution of CD8+ T-lymphocyte (CD8+ T-LC) in OLP, and evaluate the relationship of NF-κBp65 and CD8+ T-LC, and to evaluate the relationship of autoimmune response and pathogenesis in OLP.Methods Immunohistochemical technique with SP method was used to detect the expressions of NF-κBp65, TRAF2 and CD8+ in 60 OLP cases and 40 normal oral mucosa specimens. TUNEL was used for detecting the cell apoptotic index (AI) in 15 OLP cases. All OLP cases were divided into erosion-atrophy group (30 cases) and non-erosion group ( 30 cases) according to their clinical feature. Results Compared with the control group, the increased AI of epithelial cells (67.32±18.99) and the decreased AI of lymphocytes (40.43±10.31) were found in OLP (P<0.05). The positive rate of NF- κBp65,TRAF2 and CD8+of epithelial cells were 85.00%, 76.67%and 13.33% respectively, remarkably higher in OLP than in normal control (P<0.025). The positive rate of NF-κ Bp65,TRAF2 and CD8+ of lymphocytes were 91.67%. 86.67%和 100% respectively, significantly higher in OLP than in normal control (P<0.025). Furthermore, a positive correlation was observed between NF-κBp65...
