Objective To explore the association of urotensinâ…¡(Uâ…¡)gene polymorphism with the occurrence of stroke and the effect to bloodpressure, fasting blood glucose, blood fat of patients with stroke in banpopulation of Hunan province. Methods Urotensinâ…¡geneS89N (3836C/T) polymorphismwas detected by polymerase chain reaction(PCR), restriction fragmentlength polymorphism (RFLP) and DNA sequencing in 137 patients withcerebral infarction, 121 patients with cerebral hemorrhage and 103healthy controls.Results1. In the study populations, the Frequencies of Uâ…¡genotypes are47.5% CC, 43.7% CT, and 8.8% TT, C allele frequency and T allelefrequency are 69.4 % and 30.6 %.2. Uâ…¡polymorphism revealed no significant difference of genotypeand allelic distribution in Stroke Patients and its subgroups (includingcerebral infarction and cerebral hemorrhage) and control group. 3. In Stroke Patients and its subgroups, blood pressure, fastingblood glucose and the serum level of blood-fat index are notsignificantly different among the three genotypes. Blood pressure, fasting blood glucose and blood-fat index also revealed no significantdifference of genotype in control group.Conclusions1. The urotensinâ…¡S89N(3836 C/T) polymorphism might not beindependent risk factor involved in the incidence of stroke in hanpopulation of Hunan province.2. The urotensinâ…¡S89N(3836 C/T) polymorphism might not beassociated with blood pressure, fasting blood glucose and themetabolism of blood-fat index in han population of Hunan province.
