Objective: To investigate the effect of psychological factors on life quality in the patients with non-erosive reflux disease(NERD).Methods: 100 healthy adults, 134 patients with reflux esophagitis (RE) and 145 NERD patients were included in this study and fulfilled three questionnaires, including Zung Self-rating Anxiety Scale( SAS), Zung Self-rating Depressive Scale (SDS) and Short Form 36 Health survey Questionnaire(SF-36)。The difference of scores were compared and analyzed among the three groups。Results: 1) There was significant difference of anxiety scores among NERD,RE and healthy controls (P =0.000),and those of NERD patients were much higher than those of RE patients (P =0.014) and healthy adults (P =0.000)。The incidence of anxiety was significantly different among the three groups (P =0.000), and that in cases of NERD was higher than that in other two groups. 2) There was statistical significance in difference of depression scores among NERD, RE and normal groups. The depression scores in patients with NERD were higher than in patients with RE (P =0.025) and normal controls (P =0.000), and the depression's incidence in cases of NERD was also higher than in cases of RE and healthy subjects(P=0.000). 3) Eight healthy conceptions of life quality were significantly different between NERD, RE and normal groups(P< 0.05)and lower in cases of NERD and RE than in normal controls. Psychological health(P=0.004)and total health(P=0.002) in NERD patients were markedly lower than in RE patients. 4) There was negative correlation between the scores of anxiety and depression and quality of life, and much more negative correlation existed between scores of anxiety and life quality in patients with NERD. Conclusions: Psychological factor plays an important role on the onset and development in cases of NERD. The declining in life quality of patients with NERD is related to psychological abnormality...
