Objectives: To study the effects and principle of ZengYe Decoction on the SS mice model. Methods: BALB/C mice were injected with homologous antigen of submandibular gland tissues plus complete Freund's adjuvant plus diphtheria-tetanus toxoids-pertussis to enhance the immunological reaction. The same immunological way repeated twice to duplicate SS model. ZengYe Decoction is a famous formulas in Differentiation on Warm Diseases Item by Item. Its ingredients are Scrophularia root 30g, Ophiopogon root 24g and Rehmannia root 24g. Decocted all the herbs in water two times, and 250-300 millilitres of strained herbal tea was taken each time. Commingled these strained herbal tea and condenced it. Douched ZengYe Decoction to the SS mice model. The consumption of food and water, the changes of mice weight and saliva flow rate were observed dynamically. After last dosage, they were abrosiaed for 24 h. Gain blood by select the rats' eyeball. Determine the concent of bloodη_H,η_L,ESR,VAI,HCT and IgG, spleen and thymus gland rate test, anti-inflammatory effection and histopathological finding were observed. Results : ZengYe Decoction has the effect on regulating blood hemorheology disorder. It also has the effect on regulating the consumption of food, the consumption of water and the changes of mice weight. It could reduce the lymphocytes infiltration of SS model animals, treat the SMG atrophy of SS model mice and promote the salivary secretion of model animals. It could reduce the expansion of spleen and thymus gland of SS model animals. It also has obvious anti-inflammatory effects and decreased the production of differential antibodies in the serum of model animals. Conclusions: ZengYe Decoction obviously inhibits lesions of salivary glands and improves functions of salivary glands. The mechanism may be inhibit immunological inflammation.
