Objective:P-selectin(CD62P)is a transmembrane glycoprotein and belongs to the selection family of molecules.CD62P plays an important role in platelet activation. VEGF is a glycoprotein that may promote microvascular permeability and induce endothelial proliferation .They both participate in the cardio-vascular inflammation and lesions. Kawasaki disease(KD) is just a kind of systemic vasculitis. This study sought to find the change of CD62P and VEGF in KD children. It is further to evaluate the diagnostic and prognostic value of CD62P and VEGF in KD.Methods:KD inpatients from November 2007 to February 2008 were objects of study.17 febrile children with infection formed febrile groups.17 healthy children formed health control groups.Refered to echocardiogram diagnostic standard,Samples from KD patients were divided into two groups: coronary artery dilatation groups(n= 6) and coronary artery normal groups (n= 30 ).Collecting vessel blood before aspirin and IVIG treatment and 5-7 days after treatment in KD. CD62P were detected with whole blood flow cytometry.VEGF were detected with enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Result: KD patients in both period (before treatment and after treatment ) had significant higher levels of CD62P than febrile groups(P<0.05 )and healthy control subjects (P<0.001 ).KD patients in both period had significant higher levels of serum VEGF than febrile groups(P<0.001 ) and healthy control groups(P<0.001 ).When CD62P and VEGF in KD before treatment were measured ,There were no deference between coronary artery dilatation groups and coronary artery normal groups(P>0.05) . CD62P was correlated with VEGF(r=0.49, P<0.01).WBC counts was correlated with CRP(r=0.584, P<0.01).Platelet levels after treatment were higher than that before treatment(P<0.001 ). PLT and CD62P had no pertinence in KD(P>0.05).There were no diference of WBC, Hb,PLT,ESR between CAD groups and coronary artery normal groups(P>0.05).<2 years old and≥6 years old children tend to arise CAD.Only one child (>6 years old )had persistent CAD finally. Conclusion: (1) CD62P and VEGF may involve in the pathogenesis in KD and can be indexes in KD.(2)Marked increasing in platelet counts were found in KD children after 5-7 days of treatment .CD62P also increased in KD children .So antiplatelet therapy is important at this period. (3)In KD patients CD62P was correlated with VEGF. WBC was correlated with CRP .CD62P and VEGF together participate in KD inflammation especially platelet activation, leukocytes recruitment .(4)<2 years old and≥6 years old children tend to arise CAD. Older children (≥6 years old)may be one of high risks of CAD and should be taken more attention.
