| Objective To retrospectively study 6964 semen samples,investigate the semen quality of the adult males in Shenzhen.The semen parameters of the abnormal samples were analyzed,and investigate the semen quality characteristics by comparing to other native citis and foreign city .Methods The semen quality of 6964 semen samples were analysised according to the standard of《WHO Laboratory manual for the exmination of human semen and sperm-cervical mucus interaction》. To analysis the difference of semen quality such as oligozoospermia and asthenozoospermia .The indexes of abnormal sperm content were compared between Shenzhen and other areas .Results Of the 6964 semen samples,1375(17.94%) were normal ,4708(62.58%) were asthenozoospermia,1816(24.11%)were oligozoospermia,1371(19.69%) were oligoastheno -zoospetmia,193(2.77%)were azoopermia .The mean and standard deviation of semen volume was(3.04±1.05)ml,semen density was(50.73±42.11)×106/ml,total semen was (148.03±127.05)×106/ml,sperm viability was (50.06±17.90) %,grade a+b motility was (32.80±15.14) %,grade a motility was 45.5%. Accord with WHO standard,the number of cases within normal range of sperm parameters such as semen volume,semen density,total semen,viability,motility were88.94%,70.84%,80.20%,53.96%,27.02%.Except of semen volume ,the mean of semen density,total semen,viability,motility were more poor than 7 geographical areas..The semen quality in Shenzhen and Chengdu,Zunyi ware compared, parameters such as semen density,viability,grade a+b motility were significant diference (P<0.01).The semen quality in Shenzhen and Spain was compared, parameters such as semen volume,semen density,total semen,viability,grade a+b motility have no change.Conclusion The result indicated that the semen quality of adult males in Shengzhen was more poorer than 7 geographical areas,Shenzhen and Chengdu.All indexes failed to accord with the WHO standards. Comparing with Spain ,the semen quality has no change.
