Bingdulike is traditional Chinese medicine compound prescription curing viral disease researched by Lanzhou Institute of Prologue and Veterinary Pharmaceutics Science.Studys were done to learn Bingdulike's effect on inflammation of viral disease and it's safety. The study was carried out to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of Bingdulike by using the mouse ear inflammation model induced by xylene, the mouse peritoneal capillary permeability increase model induced by acetic acid, the mouse paw edema model induced by carregenin and the mouse granuloma model induced by paper. The anti-inflammatory mechanism of bingdulike was observed by assessing the changes of the levels of the PGE2, MDA,histamin and 5-HT in the inflammatory tissues and the NO and antalzyme in blood serum of the mouse paw inflammation model induced by carregenin. These results showed that Bingdulike exhibited remarkable anti-inflammatory activity in xylene-induced mouse ear inflammation,acetic-acid-induced mouse peritoneal capillary permeability increase, carrageenan-induced mouse paw edema and paper-induced mouse granuloma.Bingdulike reduced the levels of the MDA,histamin and 5-HT in the inflammatory tissues and the NO in blood serum of the mouse paw inflammation model induced by carregenin, but it had not conspicuous effect on the PGE2 in the inflammatory tissues and the antalzyme in blood serum of the mouse paw inflammation model induced by carregenin. The results indicate that Bingdulike has an significant action on anti-inflammation effect which primary mechanism is related to the reduction of the levels of the MDA,histamin and 5-HT in the inflammatory tissues and the NO in blood serum..The safety of Bingdulike was evaluated by acute toxicity testing on mice for the acute toxic reaction and death of mouse one day after intragastric administration of bingdulike. The mouse were intragastrically administered with Bingdulike. There was no death on mouse observed and no LD50 detected after administration. The body weights of the mouse were increased.Hence the maximum dosage was identified with 160g/kg which indicates that Bingdulike is relatively safe.
