Objective: To study the expression of eIF-4E, VEGF and CD105 in gastric cancer tissues and investigate their relationships between their expressions and clinical pathological features. Methods: The expressions of eIF-4E, VEGF and CD105 were detected in 53 tumor samples and from 53 gastric cancer patients treated with 5-fluorourcil and taxans-based adjuvant chemotherapy by immunohistochemical method and 10 normal stomach tissues were used as controls. Results: The expressions of eIF-4E,VEGF and CD105 were 79.3%(42/53),60.3%(32/53)and 100%(53/53)in 53 gastric carcinoma. The eIF-4E and VEGF expression were closely related to the lymph node metastasis and TNM stage (P <0.05), but not to histological differentiation gender and ages.eIF-4E and VEGF were not expression in the normal tissues and paracarcinoma tissues. The disease free survival and the overall survival in the eIF-4E expression positive and negative gastric patients were 8.7mos, 14.7mos and 14.4mos, 20.4mos, respectively (P<0.05). The disease free survival and the overall survival were 8.3mos,17.0mos and 14.5mos,21.3mos in the VEGF expression positive and negative gastric patients, respectively(P <0.05).An positive correlation was found between eIF-4E and VEGF expression (P <0.05).Conclusions: eIF-4E, VEGF and CD105 have different expression in gastric cancer tissues, while no expression in normal tissues and paracancer tissues. The expression of eIF-4E, VEGF and CD105 may not only has related with the development of gastric cancer, but also with the prognosis of gastric cancer.
