Comparison Of The Effect For Ureteral Complicated Calculi Between Ureterorenoscope With Holmium: YAG Laser Lithotripsy And Open Ureterolithotomy

Purpose To compare the effect of ureterorenoscope with holmium:YAG laser lithotripsy and open ureterolithotomy for ureteral complicated calculi.Methods From January 2004 to June 2008,240 patients(262 sides)with ureteral complicated calculi were divided into two groups,136 patients(150 sides)underwent ureterorenoscope with holmium:YAG laser lithotripsy and 104 patients(112 sides) underwent open uretero lithotomy.The curative effect were compared between the two groups.Results In the group of ureterorenoscope with holmium:YAG laser lithotripsy,the stone fragmentation rate on one session was 80.9%(110/136). In the group of open ureterolithotomy,the stone free-rate was 100.0%(104/104)(P<0.05).The succeed- rate of the group of open ureterolithotomy was higher.But the incidence of complica- tions,the hospital stay,the average operation time,the anodyne after operation,the charge in hospital in the group of ureterorenoscope with holmium:YAG laser lithotripsy were better than those in the group of open ureterolithotomy(P<0.05).Conclusion The treatment of ureterorenoscope with holm ium:YAG laser lithotripsy has the advantages of micro-invasive,less incidence,short operation time and hospital stay, lessening pain of patient,decreased charge be in hospital and effective procedur e.It should be recommended as the first-line procedure for ureteral complicated calculi.It may be adopted of open ureterolithotomy if the applicability was definitude.
