Objective: To measure the serum levels of hK7, T-PSA and F-PSA in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer (PCa) ,then we discuss its clinical significance. Methods: From December 2007 to February 2009 ,105 patients with BPH and 52 patients with PCa who were histologically confirmed were chose as the object of study from Urology department of our hospital. And in the same period 100 healthy men whom were over than fifty and had no lower urinary tract symptoms were chose as control. The serum levels of hK7 were measured by sandwich-type ELISA and the serum levels of T-PSA and F-PSA were measured by Abbott Axsym automatic immune analyzer. Results: The serum levels of hK7 from high to low was BPH group (2.09ng/ml) , the control group(1.11ng/ml) and PCa group(0.51ng/ml) (P<0.01). The serum levels of T-PSA from high to low was PCa group, BPH group and the control group(P<0.01). In F / T-PSA ratio comparison , BPH group was higher than PCa group(P<0.01). Conclusions: The serum levels of hK7 in patients with PCa is significantly lower than those with BPH, hK7 may have a certain value for the diagnosis of PCa. The serum levels of hK7 difference between patients with BPH and control is not so obvious as the difference between patients with BPH and patients with PCa ,hK7 needs to be further studied with large sample.
