Background:sepsis is a frequent clinical complication of severe case and also is a significant cause to induce multiple organ dysfunction syndrome(MODS),multiple organ failure(MOF),even to death.In recent years,to formulate rational strategy of immunoregulation and to adoption suitable medicine or method become focuses of investigation followed with comprehending the mechanism of sepsis.Also there still are short of economy,little by-effect,more ideal immunomodulators in clinically except thymic peptideα₁ and ulinastatin,a great quantity studies and researches had confirmed that Radix Astragali have immunological enhancement,but it is unknown whether Radix Astragali also have effect in septic patients and what outcomes would be.Accordingly,we observed and compared variations of inflammatory corpuscles,cell factors and therapeutic effect in septic patients after treatment with Radix Astragali injection,and discussed influence of Radix Astragali injection on immunologic function in septic patients.Objective:To study Influence of Radix Astragali injection on immunologic function in septic patientsMethods:A total of fifty septic patients who fulfilled the diagnostic criteria revised on SCCM/ESICM/ACCP/ATS/SIS international sepsis definitions conference in 2001, were randomly divided into two groups:Radix Astragali treatment group(n=30) and control group(n=20).Under the same basic therapy the Radix Astragali treatment group transfused Radix Astragali injection.NEU,LYM,T-cell,B-cell,NK-cell,CD4,CDS,CD4/CD8,HLA-DR,IL-1β,IL-6,TNFα,APACHEâ…¡scores,to use antibiotics time,mechanical ventilation time,length of stay ICU and ICU mortality were recorded on the first day,the seventh day and the fourteenth day after admission.Results:The level of NEU,IL-1β,IL-6 and TNFαwas increased in all septic patients,while the level of LYM,CD4 and CD4/CD8 was decreased.and these inflammatory corpuscles,lymph cells and cell factors were correlated with APACHEâ…¡scores and ICU mortality(P＜0.01 or P＜0.05 ).The level of CD4,CD4/CD8 significantly was decreased in died patients.Compared with the control group,the level of LYM,CD4 and CD4/CD8 recovered significantly in Radix Astragali treatment group after transfused Radix Astragali injection(P＜0.01 or P＜0.05),but the level of CDS,NK,IL-6,to use antibiotics time,length of stay ICU,APACHEâ…¡scores decreased significantly and mechanical ventilation time,ICU mortality more lower.Conclusions:Radix Astragali injection has immunoregulation effect in septic patients and improve their pathogenetic condition,therapeutic effect and prognosis.
