[Objective]1. To explore the indicators of male sex hormones:testosterone T, progesterone P, estradiol E2, prolactin PRL, luteinizing hormone LH, follicle stimulating hormone FSH changes with age.2. To compare the levels of sex hormones of prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia patients.3. To find out the relationship between sex hormone levels, prostate volume, serum tPSA, fPSA and fPSA/tPSA level and prostate benign or malignant diseases.[Methods]1. The study participants were recruited from the first affiliate Hospital of Ji Nan University from March 2003 to March 2010. All patients had been the first diagnosed by pathologic examination. There are 96 cases of prostate cancer and 76 cases of benign prostate hyperplasia(BPH) as the experimental group without prostate disease,32 cases of qualified volunteers as the control group. To collect the patient's age, serum tPSA, fPSA, fPSA/tPSA, Prostate volume was measured by transabdominal ultrasonography. six values of sex hormones.2. With the rank sum test were analyzed, to find out relationships between the various indicators between PCa and BPH group. By linear correlation analysis and Spearman rank correlation analysis, explore the correlation of age and the sex hormone levels.[Results]1. The comparison of two sample rank sum test (Mann-Whitney Test), according to α= 0.05 level, that the serum PRL, LH, FSH, serum tPSA, fPSA in the BPH group were significantly lower than those of in PCa group, the serum level of T, fPS A/tPSA in BPHgroup were significantly higher than those of in PCa group.2. With the Spearman rank correlation analysis, byα= 0.05 level, BPH group:FSH were positively correlated with age; PCa group:T is negatively correlated with age, FSH was positively correlated with age.[Conclusion]1. With age increased and serum T,T/E2 ratio decreased, elder men will resulting in BPH and PCa. To detection of serum T levels can be used to assist the diagnosis, prognosis and therapeutic efficacy of BPH and PCa. Older men with androgen therapy may be able to prevent BPH, PCa occurrence.2. PRL and its receptor may play an important role in occurrence of prostate cancer and development. PCa patients have Significantly higher PRL, The level of srrum PRL can be used as diagnostic indicators of BPH and PCa reference.
