High Frequency Ultrasonography And Integrated Backscatter Assessment In Thyroid Function Of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis

Objective:To evaluate the sonographic characteristics existed in patients with the Hashimoto's thyroiditis and application of integrated backscatter (IBS) in thyroid function of Hashimoto's Thyroditis (HT)Methods:Ultrasonography was performed in 100 patients with HT,the sonographic characteristics appearance on thyroid was surveyed.IBS and serum thyroid hormone levels were determined.The relationship between IBS and serum thyroid hormone levels was analyzed.Results:Hyperthyroidism was found in 30 cases,euthyroidism in 30,hypothyroidism in 40. (1)Focal hypoechoic pattern and diffuse hypoechoic pattern more appear on the Hyperthyroidism group and the Euthyroidism group,The difference of hypoechogenicity didin't exist between the Hyperhyroidism group and the Euthyroidism group (P>0.05); (2)Incidence of diffuse hypoechogenicity in the Hypothhyroidism patients was higher than that in the Hyperthyroidism,Euthyroidism grouop was 70%;(3)Incidence of linear hyperechoic in the Hypothyroidism patients higher than that in the Hyperthyroidism,Euthyroidism grouop (P<0.05); (4)The differences of the incidence of multi-nodular existed in the Hyperthyroidism was 3.3%,Euthyroidism was 16.7%,Hypothyroidism was 30% among the three groups (P<0.05);(5)IBS and IBS% in troup HT lower than that in the group Normal People (P<0.05); (6) IBS and IBS% in group Hypothyroidism lower than that in the Hyperthyroidism,Euthyroidism group (P<0.05); The difference of IBS and IBS% didn't exist between the Hyperhyroidism group and the Euthyroidism group (P>0.05).Conclusions:High frequency ultrasonography and IBS is a noninvasive and valuable method to assess thyroid function of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis.
