Experimental Study Of Treating Gouty Arthritis With Sodium Bicarbonate Solution

Objective to study an effective way for selecting an safer and more effective flushing fluid in arthroscopic treatment of gouty arthritisMethods (1) Determination of Dissolve the effectiveness:Repeatedly washed up gout crystals obtained from the joints of the patient with distilled water and then filtered out gout crystals. And obtained some crystalline powder and dried it at natural room temperature, which was divided into equal A, B, C trisection with an electronic balance. After ventilating and crystallizing them, submerged them with sufficient 5% sodium bicarbonate solution, normal saline and distilled water separately. Two hours later, filtered out gout crystals , got them dried out at natural room temperature , measured trisection A, B, C with electronic balance, compared the mass of A,B,C groups before and post the experiment separately. Difference data were obtained and variances were analyzed using multi-samples. (2) Determination of Safety : The author randomly divided 18 hens into three groups A, B and C with 6 hens in each group. After successfully modeling all the groups according to the symptoms of gout arthritis, the author experimented on left knee joints while referencing the right ones. Then silted all the testees'left knee joints and continuously dripped in flushing fluids with 1000ml 5% sodium bicarbonate solution in group A,1000ml normal saline in group B and 1000ml distilled water in group C,2hours full drip end. Two hours later, the author executed testees , obtained joint cartilages of left and right knees from three groups and sent them to go through pathological examination(HE staining).Results 1.Detemination of Dissolve the effectiveness :From analyzing the masses of the solutions of group A, B and C before and post the experiment,the author witnessed the most gout crystals in group A which were put in sodium bicarbonate solution, which was obviously different from groups A and B(P<0.05)with less dissolution and no obvious difference among groups(P>0.05).2.Determination of safety:From the analysis of the results of biopsy, the author did not witness differences among groups with 5% sodium bicarbonate solution, normal saline and distilled water separately and between left knee joints and right ones.Conclusion Based on the obtained data, sodium bicarbonate solution is more capable of effectively dissolving gout crystals and cleaning gout crystalline precipitation in the joints compared with routine arthroscopic flushing fluids. Since there were no obvious differences among their pathological biopsy of testees from groups experimented with sodium bicarbonate solution, natural saline, distilled water separately, it proved that sodium bicarbonate solution was not harmful to the joint cartilages of tested animals and it was superior to natural saline, a kind of routine arthroscopic flushing fluid. If it is applied in clinic, it can obviously reduce the quantity of gout crystals in gout arthritic patients'joints and can even dissolve those gout crystals attached to cartilages, which are difficult to be cleaned by routine flushing fluids or arthroscopic instruments, so as to ease the pains of patients in acute period, reduce the postoperative recurrence and improve patients'symptoms at different degrees or even reverse patients'condition, achieving unexpected operational effects.
