The Clinical Observation Of Self Menstrual-Improving Regulating-Testosterone Decoction To Treat Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Of The Spleen-Deficiency Phlegm-Damp Type

PurposeThis study used Self Menstrual-Improving Regulating-Testosterone Decoction to treat the patients with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome of the Spleen-Deficiency Phlegm-Damp type, to observe the effects on gonadal hormone levels, and observe their menstruation, body mass index (BMI) changes before and after treatment, To understand the the efficacy of the Self Menstrual-Improving Regulating-Testosterone Decoction, and to develop the new iders of Chinese medicine treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome.Patients and MethodsCollect 30 Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome patients from gynecology outpatient department of the first Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Univercity of Chinese Medicine during June 2010 to January 2011, aged 18-40 years old, and syndrome differentiated of the Spleen-Deficiency Phlegm-Damp type type, given Self Menstrual-Improving Regulating-Testosterone Decoction。After treatment of 3 courses, observing the menstrual condition, BMI of patients before and after treatment and determination of serum levels of Testosterone, serum levels of follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone levels in serum and LH/FSH ratio changes. All data are treated with SPSS11.5 software, differential analysis using t test.Results1, Both weight and BMI were decreased after the treatment, but both of them had no significant difference in comparison (P>0.05). 2, Sera testoterone (T), luteinizing hormone (LH), the ratio of LH and FSH (LH/FSH) were all decreased after the treatment. The change of T was significant difference (P<0.05) and the changes of LH and LH/FSH were extremely significant differenced (P<0.01), but the change of FSH was no significant difference(P>0.05).3, After the treatment,3 patients were healed,7 patients had good effect, 15 patients had effect and only 5 patients had bad or no effect. So the overall efficiency was 83.33%.Conclusion1, The Self Menstrual-Improving Regulating-Testosterone Decoction can improve the menstrual of patients with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome of the Spleen-Deficiency Phlegm-Damp type.2, The Self Menstrual-Improving Regulating-Testosterone Decoction can decrease the level of T and significantly reduce the level of LH and LH/FSH ratio in patiens with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome of the Spleen-Deficiency Phlegm-Damp type.
